TEXTURE & TENSION — Material Experiments
A study in stillness at the scale of one occupant. Linea Prima .0043 is conceived as a small piece of architecture set down beside a chair — five solid blocks of Verde Alpi marble holding a single square horizon. Four square legs meet the floor square. One square slab rests across them, the top over sailing each leg slightly so a clean shadow registers beneath. Every face stays on plane. The piece reads as a 55 centimetre cube of mineral. Verde Alpi marble is an Italian green serpentine — a grey-green of forest and mountain, mottled with darker mineral veining and pale quartz passages. Honed and lightly waxed, soft to the eye rather than glossy. The stone reads cool and quiet in any light. Look closer at the four corner joints where the slab rests on its legs. Stone sits on stone with no mediator — no metal collar, no shim, no chamfer. A clean shadow line beneath the slab is the only ornament on the piece. Linea Prima .0043 is intended as an architectural side table — a single mineral object that accompanies seating with quiet weight. Suited to private residences, collectors’ interiors, and reading rooms where one stone holds a single position.
